Rooiberg Hiking Trail
The name Rooiberg originates from its red colour. The trail starts directly from the campsite. You'll meet turtles, geckos, and even the farm's cattle find their way up. In summer it is advisable to hike either early in the morning or late afternoon. A lot of water should be taken with, due to the heat. The hot climb is worthwhile as the photos show. In January Rooibos tea is harvested from the Rooiberg. From the top one has the best view all over the valley and the farm. The hike takes about 3.5 hours. A refreshing bath in the river is advisable afterwards.
